The top five teams in Conference USA through two weeks:
1. Western Kentucky: The Hilltoppers have separated themslves from the crowd with a pair of nice wins over Louisiana Tech and Vanderbilt. WKU is C-USA’s lone hope for a major bowl bid.
2. Louisiana Tech: The Bulldogs almost pulled off the big win at WKU, falling 41-38 in Bowling Green. The Bulldogs are the favorite in the West.
3. Rice: The Owls are the biggest threat to La. Tech in the West. Rice should pick up its first C-USA win at North Texas Saturday.

4. Marshall: The Herd don’t look so hot now after losing 21-10 at Ohio.
5. FIU: The Panthers are a solid defensive squad, but they weren’t good enough last week in a 36-22 loss at Indiana.
