Southern Miss

Southern Miss welcomes another high-profile SEC rival. Here’s how to watch

One week is all that will separate Pete Taylor Park from one matchup between a top-10 Southern Miss (14-2) team and an in-state SEC foe to another.

Ole Miss (15-2) will face No. 7-ranked USM in Hattiesburg on Tuesday night as the Golden Eagles’ latest high-profile opponent. While unranked, the Rebels are No. 8 in RPI, making it a Quad 1 game for both RPI No. 1 USM and Ole Miss.

Southern Miss defeated Mississippi State at home last Tuesday, 5-4, and has rocketed up the polls. The Golden Eagles are No. 7 at D1 Baseball, but as high as No. 6 at Perfect Game, after a 4-1 week that featured a home sweep of North Alabama.

With wins against MSU and Alabama, USM is now tied with South Alabama for most all-time wins by a Sun Belt team over an SEC team with 194.

Thomas Crabtree (4.32 ERA) will make his second start for Southern Miss. This will be the Golden Eagles’ final action before conference play begins at Arkansas State this weekend. The Rebels open conference play this weekend, as well, with a road series against No. 2 Texas.

Here’s how to watch and follow the action.
