Southern Miss hosting top-10 matchup with in-state rival. Here’s how to watch

Pete Taylor Park will play host to a top-10 in-state college baseball battle between two teams with only two losses among them.

Southern Miss is ranked as high as No. 8 in this week’s polls and welcomes in No. 4-ranked Mississippi State on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles (10-1) have not lost since Opening Day and have spent the last seven days pummeling their opponents. Alabama was run-ruled behind two grand slams last Tuesday before USM outscored Louisiana Tech 25-5 during a road sweep over the weekend.

The Bulldogs (11-1) began the year on an 11-game win streak before Sunday’s extra innings loss to top-ranked UCLA.

Southern Miss outfielder Joey Urban (1) scores a run against Alabama at Pete Taylor Park on Tuesday, February. 24, 2026. Southern Mississippi won, 14-4.

The Bruins represented MSU’s second Quad 1 game of the year. Southern Miss, currently the No. 1-ranked team in the nation in RPI, is already up to 7-1 in Quad 1 games.

This is the first of two games between the teams. Mississippi State will host USM on March 24.
