USM has most home football games in five years, two in-state clashes. Here’s the schedule
The inaugural season of the Charles Huff era at Southern Miss has its schedule.
The Sun Belt Conference released the official slate of dates for conference games on Friday, finalizing the schedules after initially releasing the matchups earlier this year.
Southern Miss will have seven home games for the first time since 2020 and the schedule features two in-state opponents for the first time since 1976.
The Golden Eagles open the season with three consecutive home games and will host in four of the first five weeks.
The schedule is highlighted by Huff’s debut against Mississippi State, marking the Bulldogs’ first trip to Hattiesburg since 2015.
The conference opener against Appalachian State on Sept. 13 is expected to feature former USM starting quarterback Billy Wiles’ return to M.M. Roberts Stadium.
Southern Miss is currently scheduled to play one midweek game — on Thursday, Oct. 9 against Georgia Southern — and will finish the regular season against Troy for the third straight year.
Here is the full schedule. Kickoff times and network placements for the first three weeks will be announced in May.
