Southern Miss left-handed baseball pitcher Dalton Rogers has been drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 2022 MLB draft.

Rogers was taken with the 99th pick in the draft.

The third-year sophomore transferred in from Jones College and was USM’s primary setup pitcher out of the bullpen this season. Rogers struck out 57 batters in 37 innings and worked a 1.95 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP.

Rogers held opposing batters to a team-best .128 batting average. He’s the first Golden Eagle taken in this year’s draft.

The slot value at pick No. 99 this year is $617,200, according to Spotrac.com.

Rogers was ranked as high as 136th by ESPN’s prospect ranking. Rogers was not in MLB Pipeline’s top-250 prospect rankings.
