Southern Miss beats Kennesaw State in 10 innings, advances to Hattiesburg regional final
Southern Miss is still alive in the NCAA baseball tournament’s Hattiesburg regional.
The Golden Eagles walked off Kennesaw State in the 10th inning, eliminating the Owls with a 4-3 victory.
Christopher Sargent hit a one-out base hit into left field to score the winning run with the bases loaded.
Sargent now has seven hits in 13 at bats druing the regional with three RBI.
Southern Miss got another strong start, this time from pitcher Hunter Riggins. The Delta State transfer threw nine innings and struck out six batters. Only one of KSU’s runs were earned.
Tyler Stuart struck out three batters in the 10th on 22 pitches.
With the win, Southern Miss advances to face LSU on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the regional final.
