Southern Miss baseball will host an SEC powerhouse in the NCAA tournament this weekend
The field of 64 is officially set.
Southern Miss will be hosting LSU, Army and Kennesaw State in the Hattiesburg regional.
The Friday matchups will be USM against Army, and LSU against Kennesaw State.
The Golden Eagles (43-16, 23-7) enter as the No. 11 national seed after winning the Conference USA regular-season title and claiming two victories in the league tournament.
LSU (38-20, 17-13) comes in after winning once in the SEC tournament. The Tigers lost both contests against Louisiana Tech this season.
Army (31-23, 18-7) arrives as the Patriot League’s automatic qualifier. Kennesaw State (35-26, 19-11) defeated Liberty in the final game of the American Sun conference tournament to earn its auto bid.
Regionals begin Friday, June 3.
The Hattiesburg regional is matched up with the Coral Gables bracket, where Miami is the No. 6 seed with the inside track on hosting a super regional.
