Southern Miss football extends series with Mississippi State into next decade, report says

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles have extended a series with Mississippi State two more games into the future.

According to FBSschedules.com, USM and MSU have tacked on two more games to what was a three-game series that began in 2019.

Southern Miss will host the Bulldogs on Sept. 14, 2030 and the Golden Eagles will make the return trip to Starkville on Sept. 13, 2031. These are the first two games USM has scheduled for the 2030’s.

The series began with a 38-15 MSU win in Starkville and will pick back up in 2023 with another contest at Davis Wade Stadium. Southern Miss will host the Bulldogs for the first time since 2015 in 2025.

The Golden Eagles still have four openings in 2028 and 2029 to fill as the previously scheduled contests against Troy in those years will be converted into conference games once USM is competing in the Sun Belt.
