The C-USA baseball tournament’s run in Biloxi has ended. Here’s where it’s headed.
The Conference USA baseball tournament’s three-year run in Biloxi has come to an end.
The league announced Monday that the tournament will move to Louisiana Tech’s newly-renovated Pat Patterson Stadium in 2021. The facility was destroyed by a tornado in April 2019, but is on pace to be ready for next season.
The 2022 tournament will be played at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, the Sun Herald has confirmed. In 2023, the tournament will be hosted by Rice in Houston, Texas.
The event had been played at MGM Park in Biloxi over the last three tournaments, drawing strong attendance. The crowd of 5,216 for the Southern Miss-Rice title game in 2017 is still the biggest in the history of the event.
The C-USA tournament was supposed to be played again at MGM Park after the 2020 campaign, but it was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Multiple reports indicate that the minor league baseball season will be canceled for 2020, meaning there would be no Biloxi Shuckers games played this year at MGM Park.
The 2021 C-USA tournament will be the first to be played outside of Mississippi since the 2013 event was held at Rice.
