Southern Miss loses member of football staff

Southern Miss head coach Jay Hopson will have at least one spot to fill on his defensive staff this season.

Cornerbacks coach Dan Disch was announced this week as the head coach of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes of the German Football League.

Disch worked as the defensive coordinator for the team located in Kiel, Germany, before joining Hopson’s first staff at USM in 2016. It was Disch’s second stint at USM after serving as defensive coordinator and secondary coach in 2011.

Disch, who served as the head coach of Ed White High School in Jacksonville, Fla., for 16 seasons, has also worked on defensive staffs at Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.
