Sophomore Keon Howard will make his second consecutive start as the Southern Miss quarterback on Saturday against UTEP, head coach Jay Hopson confirmed Friday to the Sun Herald.

USM will play host to UTEP at 6 p.m. on Saturday in a homecoming game at Roberts Stadium.

Redshirt junior Kwadra Griggs, who has started three games this season at quarterback, is recovering from an injured left hand.

Howard filled in last week for Griggs and completed 15 of 20 passes for 212 yards in a 31-29 win at UTSA. He also ran 10 times for 29 yards.

No matter who has played quarterback for USM this season, the team has managed to avoid the big mistake in the passing game. As a team, USM has completed 93 of 167 passes for 1,321 yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception.
