Pass Christian native named athletic director at Alcorn State
Alcorn State found its new athletic director in Pass Christian High School graduate Raynoid Dedeaux, the school announced last Monday.
Dedeaux returns to Braves country having received both his bachelor’s and master’s from Alcorn State while also playing football.
He arrives from his position as deputy commissioner of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, a position he was promoted to in January.
“I am truly humbled and honored to have been selected to serve as the next director of athletics at my alma mater,” said Dedeaux. “I would like to thank President (Felicia) Nave and the search committee for trusting me with this awesome responsibility.”
Dedeaux has worked for the MEAC since 2006 and played roles in securing multi-million dollar deals with Nike and ESPN.
He replaces Derek Horne, who resigned in September shortly after the school nearly had to cancel its biggest money game of the season due to medical staff shortages. Dedeaux officially takes over his new role on April 1.
Alcorn State has a storied athletics program that participates in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Its football team has four conference titles in the last 10 years and most recently won a Black College National Championship in 2014.
