Andrew Crane's run of perfection last year has helped him pick up one of the top individual preseason honors in the Sun Belt Conference.

The Pascagoula native and senior right-hander at Troy was named the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday after going 6-2 with a 1.47 ERA in 16 appearances last season, including eight starts.

Crane set a Troy and conference record last season with 40 consecutive scoreless innings. He didn't allow a single run from March 31 to May 26. His 1.47 ERA led the SBC and ranked fourth nationally.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Crane played four seasons at Pascagoula before spending two years at East Mississippi Community College, where he was named First-Team All-Region following his freshman season.

At Pascagoula, he was named First-Team All-State, All-Region and the Class 5A Pitcher of the Year.

Crane was also named to the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team in 2013.
