Monday: Shuckers bats come alive in 8-3 win

The Biloxi Shuckers wrapped up their five-game series against the Generals with an 8-3 victory Monday in Jackson, Tennessee.

It was the most runs the Shuckers have scored since a 10-9 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits on June 24.

Catcher Jacob Nottingham led the 12-hit performance by going 3-for-5 and blasting his ninth home run of the season.

The Shuckers won two games in the series. Jackson will visit MGM Park for five games starting Aug. 27.

Jackson (30-19, 76-43) scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning.

Adam Law homered and after a walk to Brock Hebert, Ian Miller tripled to score Hebert for a 2-0 lead.

Biloxi (20-30, 59-60) tied the game at 2 in the fifth.

Javier Betancourt singled with the bases loaded to tie the game.

Nottingham slammed a go-ahead homer to left center to lead off the sixth for a 3-2 advantage. He has homered twice and collected six hits in his last seven games.

Brooks Hall (5-2) made his fifth start for Biloxi and allowed two runs on four hits and four walks in five innings. The right-hander improved to 3-1 as a starter in Double-A this season.

Biloxi broke the game open with five runs in the seventh, including a two-run single by Gabriel Noriega with the bases loaded. The Shuckers led 8-2 going into the bottom of the eighth, when the Generals scored their final run.
