Aliyah Boston Makes WNBA History Against Washington Mystics

Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever looked to get back above .500 in the 2026 WNBA season as they hit the road to face Sonia Citron and the Washington Mystics. The Fever entered the game with a 5-5 record after suffering an 83-75 loss to Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty on Saturday.

Ahead of Monday's game against the Mystics, Boston was initially listed as questionable with a lower right leg injury. However, coach Stephanie White and the Fever elected to play their starting center against Washington, and despite the injury concern, the former South Carolina Gamecocks star was able to add her name to the record books.

Entering the matchup against the Mystics, Boston had tallied 399 assists throughout her four-year WNBA career, including 21 so far this season. With 6:57 remaining in the first quarter of the game, she hit guard Caitlin Clark for a 6-foot shot, marking Boston's first assist of the night and her 400th of her career.

In doing so, Boston has now become the fastest center in league history to record 400 assists, achieving this in her 134th career game. The previous record was held by Los Angeles Sparks legendary center Lisa Leslie, who achieved 400 career assists in her 175th game.

While Boston may have made some history at her position, her 134 games is only tied with the 50th-fastest player overall to hit the 400-assists mark. Her teammate Clark holds the record, reaching this feat in just 48 games.

Up next for Boston and the Fever, a matchup against the Chicago Sky back in Indianapolis on Thursday.
