Knicks' Mikal Bridges Reflects on Past NBA Finals Experience While Up 2-0

The New York Knicks lead the San Antonio Spurs 2-0 in the NBA Finals, stealing both Game 1 and Game 2 on the road.

Only five teams of 37 instances in NBA Finals history have comeback from a 2-0 series deficit - most recently the 2021 Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks won four straight games after surrendering an 0-2 series lead to the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 Finals. Mikal Bridges, now a key contributor for the Knicks, was a member of that Suns roster.

Bridges was asked about this previous NBA Finals experience during a press conference on Sunday.

“I just remember losing four straight,” Bridges said. “[My teammates] all understand that the series is far from over. You’ve got to keep playing desperate and be the more desperate team. We understand that after every game, no matter what, it’s always 0-0.”

“It’s always going to stick with you,” Bridges added of the Suns’ blown 2-0 lead in 2021.

Though five teams have come back from an 0-2 NBA Finals deficit, the Spurs would be the first to do so after losing both of their opening two games at home. When Bridges and the Suns jumped out to a 2-0 lead in 2021, they did so on their home court.
