Broncos Get New Update on QB Bo Nix After Season-Ending Injury
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had to sit and watch his teammates play in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots without him.
Nix suffered a broken ankle the previous week in a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs, and he needed surgery for the injury to heal properly.
Now some three months later, Nix had another procedure on the same ankle, though it doesn't appear he's suffered any setbacks.
"During his scheduled re-check with Dr. Norman Waldrop last week, #Broncos QB Bo Nix had a successful and anticipated follow-up clean-up procedure on his ankle, per me and @MikeGarafolo," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport stated.
"While the team is expected to be conservative with his participation during the offseason program, Nix continues to make strong progress in his recovery and remains firmly on track to be ready for the start of training camp."
"For #Broncos QB Bo Nix, having a follow-up cleanup procedure after a fractured ankle is not rare or unexpected and he's still expected to be ready for the season," Rapoport stated in a follow-up tweet. "That said, don't be surprised if the team takes it very easy with him this spring."
The Broncos have remained adamant that Nix's recovery is going well and that he's on track to be ready for the start of next season.
Nix followed up his breakout rookie season with an equally impressive Year 2.
He completed 63.4% of his passers while throwing for 3,931 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with an 87.8 passer rating. He also rushed for 356 yards and an additional five touchdowns.
