5 Coast programs bring home Mississippi state soccer championships. Here’s how they did it
The Mississippi Coast dominated in Jackson over the weekend and Monday, securing five soccer state championships.
St. Stanislaus, St. Patrick girls, Bay High boys and girls and the George County boys team all return to the Coast with fresh hardware. The Long Beach girls team finished as runner-up in 6A.
Here’s the breakdown of the action.
St. Stanislaus
Three second-half goals lifted the Rock-a-Chaws over St. Andrew’s, 3-2, to secure the program’s 13th overall championship and first since 2022.
Colin Lyons broke the tie in the 76th minute following goals from Kam Kimotho and Ethan Cuevas. Kimotho was named the MVP of the Class I title game.
St. Patrick girls
The Fighting Irish claimed their third straight Class I title behind a hat trick from junior Bella Jordan. St. Patrick breezed past Tupelo Christian, 4-0, to cap a 20-win season under first-year head coach Angela McClure.
Jordan was named the game’s MVP while Anna Katherine Thriffiley contributed with a goal scored. St. Patrick outscored its opponents 32-1 during the postseason and 91-2 during its active 14-game playoff win streak.
Bay High boys
The Tigers completed the three-peat with a 2-0 win over New Albany in the 4A title game. Iker Rivera scored a goal and assisted on another to Keegan Walls.
The Bay ended the season on a 12-game win streak and is riding a 15-game playoff win streak.
Bay High girls
More history was made by The Bay when the Lady Tigers captured their first title with a 2-1 win over West Lauderdale, handing the Lady Knights only their second loss of the year.
The Lady Tigers rallied from a 1-0 second-half deficit to steal the win. Senior Lauren Feuerstein was named the match MVP. The Bay battled through an early season stretch that saw the team go six straight games without a win before finishing the season with eight straight victories.
George County boys
The Rebels snatched history by winning their first state championship in the program’s first title game appearance. Sam Rogers broke a scoreless tie in double overtime to lift George County over Center Hill in the 6A championship round.
It was the Rebels’ 16th consecutive win dating back to November.
