Former Gulfport High School football standout Derick Hall has officially heard his name called on Draft Night.

Hall was selected in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks with the 37th overall pick in the draft following a strong career at Auburn.

The edge-rusher played his final season at GHS in 2018, recording 83 tackles and four sacks and was a consensus four-star recruit who chose Auburn over Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Hall was also a starter on the Admiral basketball team and a state finalist in the 200-meter dash.

The linebacker earned All-SEC honors in 2021 in his first season as a full-time starter in college, leading the Tigers with 12.5 tackles for loss.

Hall had 60 tackles and seven sacks as a senior before impressing at the NFL combine in February with his speed and agility, ranking second among all participating edge-rushers in athleticism score.

According to NFL.com, Hall possesses “NFL-caliber aggression and toughness” and “tremendous character.”

Hall is the first GHS alum to be selected in the NFL draft since former Southern Miss great Rod Davis was taken in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2004.
