Gulfport basketball coach Owen Miller resigns

Gulfport boy’s basketball coach Owen Miller has resigned his position at GHS in order to pursue another opportunity, the school announced Thursday.

Miller led the Admirals for 12 seasons, winning 260 games and the 2014 state championship.

“In my short year of knowing coach Miller, I have gained the utmost respect for him as a coach and a person and am proud to call him a friend,” GHS athletic director Matt Walters said in a press release. “While I am sad to see him go, I am excited for his new opportunity.”

It is not yet known which opportunity Miller is pursuing. Prior to coaching the Admirals, Millers assisted at various college programs, including Ole Miss under Andy Kennedy.

The search for a new coach at GHS will begin immediately.
