Prep football roundup: Ocean Springs takes it to Pascagoula in 42-3 win
Here is a look at the high school football scores from Friday:
Ocean Springs 42, Pascagoula 3: Bray Hubbard threw for two touchdown passes and rushed for another in Ocean Springs’ (7-0, 4-0) road win over Pascagoula on Friday.
Pascagoula put up a field goal on the game’s opening drive, but that was as good as it would get for the Panthers, and the Greyhounds would roll from there.
David Humphries would score on an 80-yard carry on the Greyhound’s first snap.
“We did a great job of executing our plan,” said Greyhounds’ coach Blake Pennock. “We did a good job of mixing our passing and running.
“Defensively, we were very tough,” added Pennock.
Gulfport 13, Harrison Central 12: Dax Dotson kicked a 34-yard field goal with 41 seconds remaining on the game clock to give Gulfport the win over crosstown rival Harrison Central in Lyman on Friday.
The Admirals also scored on a pass play from quarterback Jacob Palazzo to Tavaris Henshaw.
“It was just a great rivalry game between two good football teams,” said Gulfport coach John Archie. “It was a hard fought battle from the kickoff.”
Harrison Central’s two scores came on a Raymond Collins run and on a pass play from Christian Turner to Isaiah Atkins.
“Our kids played their guts out tonight,” said Harrison Central coach Casey Cain. “They gave it everything they had.”
D’Iberville 35, Hancock 9: D’Iberville pulled away from the Hancock Hawks in the third quarter as they scored on two huge plays, a 71-yard punt return and an 83-yard play from scrimmage to extend their lead to 28-3.
“In the second half our defense came up big,” said D’Iberville coach Larry Dogan. “The punt return was a huge play. The scoop and score was a huge play. I think defense is what won the game for us tonight.”
Bay High 20, Pass High 17: The Bay High Tigers improved to 6-2 (1-1, district) in Pass Christian on Friday. The Tigers scored two fourth quarter touchdowns in a comeback win on the road. Noah Cutter scored on runs of three and eight yards to seal the win for the Tigers.
Cutter scored all three touchdowns for the Tigers and rushed for 189 yards on 28 carries. Carmello Simpson rushed for 116 yards on 25 carries.
Fisher DeCamp connected with Terron Bedford for a 2-point conversion.
“The win is huge in so many ways,” said coach Jeremy Turcotte. “The win proved to the kids that they can play harder and more physical than they give themselves credit for. We challenged them on Monday that they needed to be more physical and more hard-nosed than the Pass. They rose to the challenge and they did it. I couldn’t be more proud of the character they showed last night.”
George County 41, Pearl River Central 7: George County (5-3, 4-0) remains undefeated in district play as the Rebels defeated Pearl River Central 41-7 in Carriere on Friday.
“I thought we came out and we executed very well,” said George County coach James Ray.
The Rebels scored on their opening drive on a 47-yard pass play from Ashton Hollins to Marquez Dortch.
“I am extremely blessed to be 4-0 in the region,” said Ray, whose next opponent is Picayune. “We will need to be completely focused in our preparation, starting on Monday.”
Poplarville 35, Forrest County 0: Poplarville improved to 7-1 (3-0) with a 35-0 shutout win over Forrest County on Friday. The Hornets will face a talented Columbia team with the exact same record next Friday.
The Hornets offense is led by a talented rushing duo of Tyron Holston and Dj Richardbey, both 1000-yard rushers a year ago.
The defense is led by outside linebacker Ahmad Harmon.
St. Stanislaus 25, Seminary 18: Davien Lagarde rushed for 250 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Rock-a-chaws (3-4, 2-1) over the Bulldogs. Quarterback Alex Fabra complete 6 of sixteen passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

East Cenral 41, Long Beach 7: East Central (5-3, 3-1) opened up a 27-0 first quarter lead and added touchdowns in the second and third quarters. Long Beach would get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
“We challenged our kids to focus on us and the things we control,” said Hornets coach Eric Collins. “We wanted to come out and score early, and we did that.”
Picayune 56, West Harrison 13: After a holding call took points off the scoreboard on their first possession, West Harrison evened the score at 7-7 on their second possession. From there it was all Picayune. The Maroon Tide took a 28-7 lead at halftime.
“After the half, their physicality showed why Picayune’s the number two ranked team on the Coast,” said Hurricanes’ coach Quincy Patrick. “I give our kids all the credit with the scheduled we’ve faced over the past four weeks.
“We’re growing,” said Patrick. “We’re getting there. You always want to measure where your program’s at by the Picayunes and D’Ibervilles of the world. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’re on the right path.”
Richton 22, Resurrection 17: Resurrection took a 17-16 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the game, but Richton responded, taking the lead back with 48 ticks remaining to get the win.
“We did not play well,” said Resurrection coach Lavon Capers. “We played hard and with great effort, but it was not out best night.”
Moss Point 30, Greene County 13: Moss Point (6-3, 3-0) overcame some early “mental mistakes” but the Tigers sealed the top spot in District 8 4A with a win over Greene County in Leakesville on Friday.
“We probably had our best quarter of the season in the third quarter,” said Tigers’ coach Eugene Harmon. “Execution-wise in all phases of the game, offensively and defensively. I am so proud of the way our kids played.”
Biloxi 36, St. Martin 14: Biloxi (2-5, 1-3) and St. Martin were tied at 7-7 halftime, both scoring on first quarter touchdowns.
