St. Stanislaus goes for its second straight Class 1 state swimming championship.
The state high school swimming championships will be held Saturday at the Tupelo Aquatic Center. Competition is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
St. Stanislaus won the South State title. John Prikasky, Alden Macomber, who each won both events at South State, lead the Rockachaws.
South state champion Our Lady Academy is also a title contender in Class 1 girls. Madison Bradley and Grace Bradford lead the Lady Crescents.
Biloxi, also a South State champion, is also a contender in Class 2. Tyler Thibert, Ansley Pecoul, Layk Roundtree lead a strong group of Biloxi swimmers.
Tupelo, however, is the favorite to win a 11th straight crown in Class 2. Madison Central is the defending girls Class 2 champion. St. Joseph is the defending the Girls' Class 1 champion.
Class 1 consists of schools in Classes 1A to 4A. Class 2 consists of the schools in 5A and 6A.
Here is the order of events: Girls 200 medley relay, boys 200 medley relay, girls 200 freestyle, boys 200 freestyle, girls 200 individual medley, boys 200 individual medley, girls 50 freestyle, boys 50 freestyle, girls 100 butterfly, boys 100 butterfly, girls 100 freestyle, boys 100 freestyle, girls 500 freestyle, boys 500 freestyle, girls 200 freestyle relay, boys 200 freestyle relay, girls 100 backstroke, boys 100 backstroke, girls 100 breaststroke, boys 100 breaststroke, girls 400 freestyle relay and boys 400 freestyle relay.
