Division I basketball is coming to the Coast on Nov. 2.

The Southeastern Louisiana and Jackson State men’s basketball teams will play an exhibition game at Gulfport High School’s Bert Jenkins Gymnasium at 7 p.m. that day.

The event was put together to help raise funds for hurricane relief.

Southeastern and Jackson State are both led by head coaches who had success on the high school level in Mississippi.

Southern Louisiana coach Jay Ladner led St. Stanislaus to the 2011 Class 4A state championship and a state runner-up finish in 2010. The Hattiesburg native served as the head coach at SSC for 20 seasons and led the Rockachaws to 10 state tournament appearances.

Ladner, who is 37-60 in three seasons at Southeastern, also coached Jones County Junior College to the 2013-14 national championship.

Jackson State coach Brent led Callaway High School to four state championships in six seasons and also coached Provine High School to a state title.

Brent, a former Ole Miss assistant, is 56-75 over the last four seasons as the JSU head coach.
