Gulfport’s Brittney Reese advanced to the women’s long jump finals at the IAAF World Championship in London on Wednesday.

The former Gulfport High and Ole Miss track star jumped 6.50 meters at Olympic Stadium to qualify for Friday’s final at 1:10 p.m.

Reese, who earned a Gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and a silver medal at last summer’s Olympics, goes for her seventh IAAF championship. She’s won three indoors and three outdoors titles.

Reese, who turns 31 on Sept. 9, played basketball at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and in the MGCCC Athletic Hall of Fame.
