Resurrection lands 8 on Class 1A All-State Teams

The Resurrection Catholic football team placed eight players on the Class 1A All-State team following a 10-3 season.

The Eagles landed five players on the first team — junior offensive lineman Jackson Byrd, senior fullback Justice Sharp, junior linebacker Cearly Parker, senior punter Carter Warren and junior long snapper Jack Sisson.

Byrd was a two-way star on the defensive and offensive lines this season. He had 82 tackles, including 24 for lost yardage.

Sharp ran 87 times for 569 yards and seven touchdowns behind a Byrd-led offensive line.

Parker registered 126 tackles at linebacker and also ran 62 times for 443 yards and eight scores on offense.

Warren averaged 36.8 yards a punt this season, placing 10 inside the opponent's 20 yard line.

The three RCS players on the second team are senior running back Patrick Watts, junior tight end Caden Hinman and senior defensive tackle Wesley McClain.

Watts led the Eagles in rushing this season with 289 carries for 1,528 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Hinman finished with 16 catches for 259 yards and two scores.

McClain had a big year at defensive tackle with 58 total tackles, including 12 for lost yardage.
