Severals motions denied in Baxter's capital murder case

LUCEDALE - A special judge this afternoon denied several motions to limit or compel certain testimony on behalf of capital murder suspect Christopher Baxter, who is accused along with a girlfriend in the July 21, 2010, killing of George County Sheriff Garry Welford.

The defense filed a total of 11 motions in Baxter's case, including requests to suppress statements Baxter made to investigators with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations after his arrest.

That and other motions were denied.

Other motions included a request for all video recordings of the pursuit, which was denied because a deputy said they did not exist. In addition, the defense wanted a copy of the pursuit policy in George County, which was provided and therefore the motion was no longer an issue.
