The Gulfport City Council voted 5-1 this afternoon in support of issuing $10 million in bonds for road paving and other public improvements.
Councilwoman Ella Holmes-Hines opposed the motion. The council will meet March 13 to talk about what projects would be funded if the money is borrowed.
Debate over how to spend the money has already started. Holmes-Hines fears the funds for road paving will be diluted by spending on other projects. Councilman Rusty Walker said he wants to make sure the money goes for paving.
