The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued two water contact advisories for three locations in Harrison and Jackson counties.
These parts of the beach aren't closed, but DEQ officials said there may be increased risk of illness associated with swimming in areas that have high bacteria levels.
The locations that have advisories include Courthouse Road near the west parking lot in Gulfport, Front Beach near Martin Avenue and Shearwater Beach near Holcomb Boulevard, both in Ocean Springs.
When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisory will be lifted.
