JACKSON COUNTY - Sheriff's investigators have arrested the owner of a mechanic shop in the Three Rivers community on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Sheriff Mike Byrd said.
Richard Earl Spencer, 51, of the Harleston community, is accused of assaulting a Lucedale man with an aluminum jack handle and later firing a shot at the man when he fled the scene. The incident occurred Monday.
The incident occurred at Spencer's mechanic shop on Mississippi 63.
Spencer is being held this morning at the Jackson County jail.
