GULFPORT - Three cows were killed in separate accidents tonight after the cattle got loose on two areas of Interstate 10 and at County Farm Road. Harrison County Sheriff's Sgt. Charles Overstreet said each of the cows were struck by vehicles. No persons were injured but the vehicles sustained heavy damages. The accidents were reported within a period of 15 minutes at County Farm Road and westbound lanes of I-10 at mile-markers 26 and 30. Two of the cows died at the scene and the other walked back to his apparent pasture and died, Overstreet said. Authorities believe at least five to seven cows got loose, but it could have been as many as eight to 10. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash at exit 30, also known as the Canal Road exit. Authorities said animal-control officers were meeting with property owners to determine who owns the cows.
