Supervisors reverse Planning Commission, deny boat-touring business

ST. MARTIN - Jackson County supervisors sided with homeowners in Windsor Porte subdivision today when they voted not to grant special permission for a boat touring business to locate on an inlet off Fort Bayou.

The front of the business would have been on busy, commercial Washington Avenue, just north of Ocean Springs. But the back of the business would have faced the residential Hanover Drive in Windsor Porte.

Residents told supervisors they would have no protection from the business, which proposed to locate across a small bayou from them. The business owner, John Mikovich, proposed booking charter boats and renting other water craft at the docks, including canoes and kayaks, and selling bait and concessions.
