Woman ruled out as kidnapping victim after she's located (updated 4:30 p.m.)

GULFPORT - Police have located a woman, identified as Amber Nelson, 30, and ruled her out as a possible victim in a kidnapping this morning.

Capt. Craig Peterson said minutes ago that Nelson has been located and is in good condition.

Earlier, her family had reported her missing and police suspected she may have been the victim of a kidnapping at 9:15 a.m today on 16th Street near Tegarden Road and U.S. 90.

Police are continuing to investigate this morning's kidnapping. The victim was white, between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8 and 130 pounds. She had curly hair pulled back into a pony tail.

A witness saw a black man in dark blue or black extended cab pickup truck grab a woman on 16th Street around 9 a.m. this morning. The driver was last seen headed west on 16th Street.

The jogger appeared to have brown curly hair in a pony tail and was wearing typical jogging attire, including black leggings. Police said the woman is between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8 and about 130 pounds.

Earlier today, police collected evidence, including what appeared to be shoe print markings in a sandy area of a sidewalk near U.S. 90 off 16th Street.
