The National Weather Service in New Orleans had issued a tornado warning for eastern Harrison County until 3 p.m.
Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy said a water spout was spotted in D'Iberville headed up Mississippi 15 in Jackson County. He said more spouts are likely because of the weather system in place today.
"We have an unstable air mass in the area, so people need to be cautious," he said.
Heavy rain is expected to fall on South Mississippi throughout the afternoon an evening before a cold front moves through.
