Center of Lee southwest of Morgan City, La.

The latest National Weather Service advisory this morning shows the center of Tropical Storm Lee about 45 miles southwest of Morgan City, La., with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and moving to the north at 6 mph, expected to cross the Louisiana coast by late morning or early afternoon.

The likely track of the storm into Mississippi has shifted slightly westward, which could spare the Mississippi Coast some of the expected 3-5 foot tidal surge, but heavy rains -- 10 to 15 inches and even higher in isolated areas -- are expected in Mississippi through Sunday night expected to cause extensive flooding through the region and tides are still forecast here and into Alabama for 2 to 4 feet.

The National Weather Service warns tornadoes will be possible at least through tonight for the entire region.
