Waveland decides to furlough 44 city employees

WAVELAND - Waveland employees will take a 15 percent pay cut as the city struggles with money problems that will force a series of furloughs over the next several weeks.

City aldermen are also talking about a tax increase to aid city coffers.

In a meeting today, the city furloughed 44 employees for an indefinite period. About 20 "essential" employees will remain in their current role, but take a pay cut.
