NWS issues excessive heat watch

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued an excessive heat watch for Harrison, Hancock, Jackson and Pearl River counties from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening.A high-pressure system will combine with moderate humidity to produce dangerous heat conditions, according to the NWS. Temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-90s, and the heat index will be between 108 and 114 degrees between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. both days.The heat index will rise to 105 degrees by 10 a.m. and 110 by 1 p.m.Residents are advised to stay out of the heat as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids and wear light-colored clothing.
