A Louisiana motorist was in critical condition after his car ran under an 18-wheeler Sunday and came to rest in a ditch off Mississippi 607 near Interstate 10.
Jonathan Sunseri, 30, of Gretna, was northbound on 607 in a 2007 Accura and wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m., said Master Sgt. Johnny Poulos of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Antonio Camacho, 52, of San Antonio, the driver of the 18-wheeler, apparently had exited I-10 and was attempting to get back on the interstate by crossing the northbound lanes of 607, Poulos said. Camacho told authorities he stopped at the stop sign and proceeded when the northbound car ran completely under the 18-wheeler, cutting off the top of the car.
The crash remains under investigation.
