PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say several cabins caught fire on the Neshoba County Fairgrounds in east central Mississippi.
Most cabins usually are used only during the weeklong fair each summer, and it was not immediately clear whether the cabins that burned Monday were occupied.
The Neshoba Democrat newspaper reports that fire involves cabins in the "new" section of the fairgrounds.
Neshoba County Sheriff Donnie Adkins says as many as 14 cabins were on fire.
Fairview Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 8:43 a.m. and calls went out shortly after 9 a.m. to other area departments. The newspaper reported the fire appeared to be contained by 10:30 a.m.
This year's Neshoba County Fair is scheduled for July 22-29. The event attracts thousands of people for political speeches, horse racing and other entertainment.
