Judge Dan M. Russell, Jr., a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Mississippi, died Saturday in Gulfport.
He was 98.
The federal courthouse in Gulfport is named in Russell's honor because of his dedication to the bench since he began serving in 1965.
The Dan M. Russell Jr. United States Courthouse was officially dedicated on Nov. 15, 2003.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
