A man suspected in the armed robbery a Picayune bank and three other businesses in Pearl River County has been taken into custody in Gonzales, La., Picayune police officials said today.
Christopher Anthony Fortuna, 34, of St. Amant, La., was captured Sunday night when he was found with a dark-green Subaru sought in connection with the June 1 holdup of First National Bank on Cooper Road, said Deputy Police Chief David Ervin.
Picayune police and the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department linked the suspect in the bank heist to three other armed holdups, said Ervin.
Authorities said an anonymous tip led to a vehicle matching the description of the getaway vehicle at an address in Gonzales. Ervin said Gonzales police and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.
