Former bank operations manager pleads guilty to embezzlement

Former Hancock Bank Branch Operations Manager Margaret Migues pleaded guilty this morning to a federal charge that she conspired with other bank employees to embezzlemore than $2 million in her 29 year banking career.

She pleaded to embezzlement, which a carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a million dollar fine.

Hancock Bank officials fired Migues in July, at the time she was operations manager at the Ocean Springs main branch.

She, along with others, is accused of stealing money from 1980 to July 2009. The Sun Herald will update this story in Thursday's edition of the Sun Herald.
