The reason FOX News became the top-rated cable news network is because it provided an alternative to news coming from CNN and the major news networks. That is not a secret. If you didn’t know that, you have probably been sipping the Kool-Aid for a long time.

Wondering

On July 4, in this column, someone wrote of a turtle being run over on Audubon Place, Biloxi. One street over, for a number of years, there has been a neighborhood turtle that comes from the woods to visit. We marked it with a red spot on its lower back shell so we knew each year it was the same one. If you are the one who cleared the dead turtle from the street, please tell us, did you notice a red circle on the shell? We keep wondering.

Trump miracles

With Donald Trump constantly saying “I,” and with all the praise heaped upon him at the GOP convention, I expected at any moment he’d feed the entire audience using one loaf of bread and a couple of fish.

Proper usage

I am so tired of hearing and seeing people misuse the words “fewer” and “less.” I heard the wrong word used by a famous newsman on TV this morning and saw it misused in an article in the Sun Herald the other day. If a thing can be counted, there can be fewer. If it cannot be counted, it is less. You can have fewer containers of milk, which will mean less milk. Fewer rivers means less water. I hope this will help fewer people make fewer mistakes and I will have less irritation.

Hypocritical much?

The DNC has erected a 4 mile-long border around their convention. Of course it’s for safety and security. But protecting the southern border of the U.S. with a wall is a bad idea? The liberal, elitists’ hypocrisy is astounding.

Fairy tales

Tell me Lady Hillary was unaware of the treatment Bernie Sanders was receiving from her cohorts in the Democratic Party, and I’ll tell you the one about the big bad wolf or the three bears. Fairy tales.

Solomon solution

A quick solution to the suggestion of closing bars at 2 a.m. in Old Town would be this: All bands end music at 2 a.m., but the bar stays open. That way everyone’s happy.

Kudos, Anderson!

We, the people in Hancock County wish to commend and congratulate our native son, Anthony Anderson, for his heroic actions in Laredo,Texas. Anthony didn’t see race, color or creed in the people that were in trouble, he only saw that they needed help. Trump would prefer to see him fired for his actions but we say, “Well done, native son.”
