Sound Off for July 19: Violence against law enforcement has to stop
Stop it
Sunday three cops were killed in Baton Rouge. How many more lives must be taken before the government takes steps to stop these horrific acts? The people who are human and act accordingly, rely on the police to keep us safe, but who is keeping them safe? We rely on police to investigate crimes against us, the people, but now they are investigating crimes against themselves. It is time for us as a civilized people to rally together for all law enforcement officers. Lives matter!
Worth it
With three more law enforcement lives lost, it’s time for every city, county and state agency to make certain our law enforcement have every asset they need to perform the duties in any situation. If it’s better vehicles, more fire power, robots or simply hiring more bodies, this must be addressed and implemented now, not tomorrow. As a taxpayer, I have no problem paying more taxes to ensure that we have the best-equipped departments possible. We ask a lot of our men and women in uniform, and it’s our duty to give them the tools they need.
Purse signals
To answer the person about wondering what is in the Queen’s bag that is so important: interestingly, I recently read that she uses it as a signaling device to her escorts. It depends on which hand she holds the bag in, or if she puts it down. A certain hand means she is done talking to that person and wants to move along.
Blessings
Sun Herald readers we are here another day. Be Happy, love, enjoy all around you. Be safe, watch out for each others. Blessings to us all on our beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. Special blessings on those in harms way. Bad weather in other states.
Family fun!
Our family from California recently visited us. We took the opportunity to stay at Margaritaville for a night. The entire experience was fantastic. The hotel is gorgeous, our 9-year-old grandson (and the entire crew) enjoyed the arcade and a great day was spent at the pool and watersides. This is a wonderful asset for the Gulf Coast. Thanks, Biloxi, for moving toward family fun.
New normal?
The nation’s flags remain at half-staff as we mourn yet another tragedy ... is this our new normal?
Look out for DD’s
Years ago I would dread Monday’s as it was the first day of a new workweek. But, now, I dread Monday’s as it is the first day in the work week where I have to watch constantly for DD’s. DD’s are “distracted drivers.” It appears we have a majority of them on the road today, swerving across and wandering around both lanes of traffic. Riding down the center of the center line, speeding up, slowing down, hitting their brakes for no apparent reason. All of this due to smart phones which made automobile drives dumb.
