Sound Off: ‘Follow the money’ to Topship
Lay off
Lay off Ginsburg. All she did was state the facts. Everyone already knows about Trump.
Do tell
In the July 14 issue of the Sun Herald is a picture of Queen Elizabeth welcoming new Prime Minister Theresa May. As usual, the queen carries a big purse on her arm. I can’t help but wonder why. Since she is at home, she didn’t set the purse on the end table or sofa. What is in that purse that it never leaves her arm? God bless the queen!
Hillary!
Hillary is a strong and very smart leader who will make the most of our friends and grind down our enemies. She is a moral leader who knows international politics. We need Hillary as president — especially to keep Trump out of the office where his ignorance will harm our country.
Follow the money
If you are interested in where our tax dollars are going, read the opinion by Henry Kinney in Wednesday’s Sun Herald. The state, the Harrison County Board of Supervisors and the officials at the Port of Gulfport gave Topship a deal that can’t be beat: $25 million and tax cuts for years to come with the promise of 1,000 jobs that will probably never materialize. Shame on them.
Guys and gals?
Justices Scalia, Thomas and Alito were required to abide by the Judicial Conference’s Code of Conduct in the lower courts — but once elevated to the Supreme Court, they no longer had to. So when attending the Koch brothers political seminars they allowed their names to be listed on the invitations, and both Thomas and Alito were even the featured speakers for political fundraisers. Guys can be political but not gals?
Bad idea
I apologize for this, but it is not making sense to me. I have no problems with organized protests. It is our right to do so. But blocking traffic is not a positive thing to do. It only brings negativity to the cause. I was hoping Obama in his speech the other day would discourage this type of behavior, because it will not bring positive results if that is what they hope to achieve.
Traffic troubles
The railroad tracks at Iris in Biloxi are in really bad shape. Iris is well-traveled because it connects U.S. 90 to Pass Road via Southern Avenue. Also, the traffic light on Veterans allowing traffic a left turn onto U.S. 90 from the Shell station is so dim it’s hard to tell when the light is green or if the left-turn arrow is on.
Fix this
No way should we have to stop in front of every casino on U.S. 90. As a former traffic signal technician, I know the detector is stuck at Cedar Street and U.S. 90 in Biloxi, and it should have been fixed or repaired or adjusted by now. Is it set up so everybody has to stop in front of the new casino building? When I worked these traffic signals, U.S. 90 had priority, not side streets. Go see how often it changes with no traffic around.
