Sound Off for July 13: Can we elect someone trained for the job?

Really?

It’s hard to believe the GOP seems to have a candidate who knows nothing about the Constitution, international politics or any of the things we expect our president to know. Are we to elect someone who will have to be trained on the job?

Study up

If you are tired of the political lies, the ineffectiveness and corruption of elected officials, then vote them out. You have the power. But before you vote for reelection of a political figure, make sure you know why you are voting for them. If you are voting for them because you shook hands with them once, or because you know a friend of theirs and think somehow you are now connected to them, then you are part of the problem. Check their voting record and how that candidate voted on important issues. You will soon see whether you are being lied to and whether you are part of the problem or the solution.

Phone addicts

Well, we sit at our computers, watch TV or stay on cellphones all day and wonder why America is overweight. Now we have Pokémon Go so more people can stay on their phones all day. Geeshhhh!

More numbers

It is not whether the numbers have changed, “Check the numbers.” It’s the difference in the percentage between blacks and whites. I bet the whites’ percentage is very low. Let’s check on the percentage of police shot by blacks and whites.

All matter

Here is a poem. I don’t know who wrote it, but we need to live by it. “Don’t walk in front of me, for I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me,for I may not lead. Just walk beside me, and be my friend!” All matter and make a difference. Each is unique. United we stand, divided we fall.

‘Right to bare arms’

I have the perfect solution for all the gun violence in this nation. Gather all the guns and drop them into a deep ditch at the bottom of the ocean. And about the “right to bare arms” — that just gives us the privilege to wear sleeveless shirts.
