Sound Off: Mississippi needs to allow lottery
Save a trip
Mississippi needs to allow the lottery here. It would bring in much needed revenue and save me and many other Mississippi residents trips to Louisiana for lottery tickets.
Faded picture
Cal Thomas in his article “Who Cares that Hillary is a Woman” is trying to counter the fact that any picture of the GOP movers and shakers shows only old white men. It is far removed from the reality in the U.S.
A conspiracy?
I’ve missed the frequent contributions made by our friendly local conspiracy theorists. Sun Herald, you’re not editing them out, are you? You wouldn’t deprive us of the laughs, would you?
Happy July 5th
As I rode my bicycle the daily 10 miles through my neighborhood of Fort Bayou Estates in Ocean Springs on July 5, I was happy to see no fireworks trash. Also, the noise stopped at about 11 p.m. on the 4th. So glad I have considerate neighbors.
Get with program
It’s time for all to realize that the GOP (Grand “Old” Party) cannot govern the state or the country with the ways and means of 30 years ago. Times have changed. Evolution is real. It’s time to get with the program and grow with the presence.
Miss the mullet
Years ago, you could drive from Pass Christian to Biloxi and watch the mullet jumping and swimming along the top of the water for the entire trip. Not today; none to be seen. Does anyone know if the oil spill killed the mullet or were they all caught by the fleet of boats?
Lose her clearance
OK, Hillary Clinton will not be indicted. Based on FBI Director Comey’s findings, she should lose her security clearance. Without a security clearance, she cannot be president. Her “carelessness” alone should disqualify her to be president.
The Hillary defense
The next time you’re stopped by the police for speeding, use the Hillary defense. I was just being careless so there’s no reason for a ticket.
A matter of trust
I spent over 30 years in the uniformed services of this country. I have never dealt with top secret material but have with secret and confidential. I was always well aware of the potential consequences of mishandling that material. To mishandle or misuse said material did not have to be intentional — simply being negligent could have cost me my career and maybe even a prison term. Clinton lied, knowingly set up the system, knew that it was against policy and knowingly transmitted restricted data. The FBI said there was no intent. Two things: Even if there was no intent, there was negligence; the other is if she was so “reckless” with this information, how can we trust her with our nation’s deepest secrets?
