Sound Off for March 10
On March 1, I lost my purse in the Pass Christian Wal-Mart. A very kind and honest person found it and turned it in. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God bless you.
Amazing
It truly amazes me that municipalities can beg for traffic light placement and repeatedly be turned down by MDOT. Start building a Wal-Mart and a traffic light appears.
Not a dump
17th Street has become a dumping ground for old tires, limbs, mattresses. Something needs to be done. Every week, a new piece of trash is being dropped off. Clean up West Gulfport.
Get out and vote
Trump is the No. 1 topic in the media, and it sure is not a love affair. Whether he wins the GOP nomination and becomes our next president is still up in the air. Whether he would make a good President is anyone's guess, but I still enjoy him "stirring the pot" and getting folks worked up a bit. Maybe the citizenry will pay more attention and vote.
Please explain
I would like for someone to tell me why the cost of the wind pool insurance is so high. It is three times what I am paying for my regular homeowner's policy. It has gone up in cost with the coverage for 2015-16 costing around $1,700-plus. I did not even use that coverage after Katrina, so I have no claims on the insurance. It has gotten to where I am not sure if I can afford to renew my policy for 2016-17.
No choice
I just saw the Mississippi governor bemoaning the very low voter turnout. Well, on the Republican side, I understand why. The established Republican Party has told the American people their choice makes no difference, the powers that be will decide who the candidate will be. Most of those in power would rather lose the election to the Democrats than give up their hold on the GOP. Who can blame the voters for their apathy? On the Democratic side, there doesn't seem to be much of a choice between another Clinton or a socialist. Besides, the younger voters today have no idea what a socialist is.
Numbers, please
Almost every day we learn of a head-on collision. It would be interesting to learn how many are caused by people texting while driving. If the officials who investigate the accidents would report if it was due to texting, maybe it would lead to more laws and stricter laws being passed to discourage it. I think the general population has no idea how much of this is going on. None of us think it's a problem until someone in our family is injured or killed. Please, law enforcement, let's see some numbers.
