Sound Off for Feb. 27

Don't deface it

I was saddened to hear about the plans to redo the old Woolworth Building in Biloxi. The Art Deco façade of that building is iconic and it would be a shame to see it done away with. Perhaps the architect can salvage some of the major parts of the Art Deco decoration including the top portico.

New lyrics

Oh, give us a wall; Where the illegals cross; Where the border patrol and the coyotes play; Where seldom is heard, an encouraging word; And the sky is filled with cameras all day.

Unbelievable

I am not a Donald Trump supporter. However, several celebrities have said that if Trump is elected president, they will leave the country. If I really believed they would, I'd vote for Trump. But I believe them about as much as I believe Trump.

Again?

I do not understand why we need to have another vote on the Mississippi State Flag. We voted on the current flag 15 years ago and the current flag was the people's choice. Do we need to vote every year until those opposed get their way?

Drive safely

Remember drivers, if you're tagging behind an 18 wheeler, they cannot see you. You should stay three car length at least behind. If they have to stop suddenly, it's not like a car, it's more like a train. Always give yourself enough space in the event of bad weather, accident, breakdown, careless driver or if traffic stops ahead. Arrive alive. Don't rush, you make mistakes.

Business opportunity

Got the perfect business idea for the Gulf Coast. How about a combination of a Mexican restaurant, a mattress store and a dollar store? That way a customer can eat a great meal, take a nap and be rested to spend $5.

The way they like it

Some people say they support Donald Trump for president because "he tells it like it is." That's not what he does. He tells it like those people think it is. He tells it like they like to hear it. And that's what all the candidates do. If "the way it is" were obvious, we would all be in agreement on what to do and who should do it.

Phone is important

I cannot believe the rude thing a stranger just said to me in a store. I was standing in front of the Triscuit, looking at my shopping list. She said, "That phone is really important, isn't it?" Well, yes, the phone is important. My shopping list is on it. But these days, you never know who is going to pull out a gun and blow your head off for making such a comment. Keep in mind, you never know another person's situation.
