Sound Off for Feb. 21
Conservatives are like parents who tell their children they can't have everything they want because they can't afford it. Liberals are like grandparents competing with other grandparents for popularity, and give the children everything they want, even if they can't afford it.
New office pool bet
If Trump is elected president, how many months will he serve before he is impeached?
Do unto others
If all people treated others the way they would like to be treated wouldn't it be a wonderful world to live in?
Defining view
The question is not between money and people. The question is between freedom and security. That answer will define your political philosophy.
Whose money?
Let's continue the game! The question of "money over people or people over money" supposedly determining if you are a liberal or a conservative. Alas, you've left out the determining factor: whose money? The liberals tend to have their hands in others' pockets and think they are so altruistic. The proper word is "hypocrite."
Beware an animal abuser
It sickens me to read stories about people being cruel to animals. It takes a truly sick person to mistreat an animal. I truly hope animal advocates can get strict laws passed that include mandatory jail time for mistreating an animal. Beware a person who mistreats an animal; they are likely to harm a human being as well.
Do as the Duke does
Now listen up, pilgrim! John Wayne may have been rough as toilet paper, but he had enough sense not to challenge the pope and wouldn't back down from anyone.
21st century implications
The Bill of Rights is being debated again. The Fourth Amendment says in part, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated." The outcome of the battle over the terrorist's iPhone could determine if "the right of the people" refers to the individuals or to the country collectively, that is the federal government. It is frustrating this battle is being fought in the shadow of terrorism, but the long-term impact on all of us could be significant. So how important is the Bill of Rights?
No one deserves it
All the presidential candidates, from both parties, have bad-mouthed each other so much they've convinced me none of them is worthy of the job.
Where's our cut?
After reading about D'Iberville's first share of casino revenue, I wonder, as a longtime residents of the city, when my wife and I can expect a reduction in property taxes? Just wondering.
