Sound Off for Jan. 7
I think it would be appropriate for the three lady Harrison County supervisors to recommend to the Harrison County Beach Authority that the color of all of the beach garbage cans should be "Pink."
Pay attention
To "Reality check," apparently you haven't been paying attention to what President Obama has been doing for the past seven plus years by bypassing Congress with his executive orders.
Please explain
If President Obama doesn't need approval from Congress to force his agenda on me by executive actions then why would Donald Trump need approval from Congress to force his agenda on you?
Antenna name?
Would someone please send in to Sound Off the name of the outside TV antenna that costs around $50 and has really good reception for about 50 channels? It was sent about 6 months ago and I lost it. Thanks.
EDITOR'S NOTE: A Sound Off published Nov. 4 referenced an antenna named "The Stacker" that the writer said brought in 49 channels.
Listen up
The Jackson County Supervisor who suggested the board did not need to be swayed by public opinion was merely echoing Obama's deafness to the wishes of the majority of Americans. Unless the public hears a supervisor in public declare his position on an issue of importance one has no assurance that supervisor can be held accountable. Hey guys, better listen more and talk less.
Loophole closed
Forty percent of all gun sales in America are done without background checks through gun shows and the Internet. Today's executive action by Obama will help close the biggest loophole there is. Some will be angry. Too bad about the angry ones, they can go beat their war drum. Loophole closed.
Sign of the times
The world is going crazy. I know four female friends who got guns, little pistols for their purses, for Christmas. First of all, it would never have occurred to me to buy a woman a gun for Christmas. And secondly, I question the idea of giving a gift that you hope she will never have to use. How bizarre life in these United States has become.
Waste of money
We have just received our third, that's three, identical 2016 Homestead exemption receipts. At 29 cents on each card, that's 77 cents postage. Are the machines throwing out these receipts in triplicate on every householder in Harrison County? I'd rather the money be used to pave some of our neglected roads.
